Moderate / Challenging (The path is steep in parts and uneven terrain)

There’s something powerful about standing on a mountain as the world wakes up, and this guided sunrise walk up Helvellyn is designed to give you exactly that.

Setting off in the early hours, we’ll hike under headtorch, gradually climbing through the quiet of the night as anticipation builds. Reaching the summit in time for sunrise, you’ll be rewarded with unforgettable views as the first light breaks over the Lake District, casting colour across the fells and valleys below.

This is the more moderate route from Thirlmere and offers a rewarding challenge, with steady ascents and a real sense of progression as you make your way to one of England’s most iconic peaks. The effort is worth it, not just for the views, but for the shared experience of doing something a little out of the ordinary.

At the summit, we’ll pause to take it all in, take some photos, and a moment to appreciate just how far you’ve come before beginning our descent in daylight.

Led by our experienced and supportive guides, this walk is all about encouragement, pacing and creating a positive group atmosphere, whether it’s your first mountain sunrise or one you’ve been chasing for a while.

*THIS IS NOT STRIDING EDGE. THIS IS THE EASIER ROUTE UP HELVELLYN FROM THIRLMERE.
