Taking Your First Step With Us!

Updated: Aug 6, 2021

Hello, and a massive thank you for checking out our website. If you have never booked an adventure with us before it’s perfectly natural to have a few questions, which is why we have created this blog to answer some commonly asked queries. We have welcomed umpteen amounts of newcomers on our adventures, who have since gone on to become regular BEE Adventures guests, we wanted to provide evermore reassurance that you are booking with the right people. Don’t think this page is our idea of getting away from communicating with you, myself (Ryan) & James are always just a phone call away from any questions you may have. You can also find us on Instagram @BEE.ADVENTURES.UK and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/bee.adventures.uk

Why become a member? Membership is free and optional, we wanted to create a place for like minded people to share ideas and tips about the outdoors. It’s also a place for discounts 😉

Travelling solo? So is everyone else. Roughly 97% of our guests travel as individuals. We don’t all have mates with the same interests (me included). That’s why it's a great opportunity to meet some friendly like-minded people. One of the great things about the mountains is even the most introverted people feel at home. And yes, you can definitely bring your partner, friend or family member 😂 Will I fit in? I have a theory that all people who appreciate nature and the outdoors are the friendliest people you’ll meet (I have yet to be proven wrong). Also we love a good chat!

How old are people? This has no specific answer as we have people of all ages from 18 to 70… remember age is just a number.

I’m not sure which event to choose? We have split our events into two main brackets low-level and mountain hiking. If this is your first time hiking and you are unfamiliar with your ability or fitness, we recommend joining one of our low-level hikes.

How fit do I need to be? This is a question we are asked a lot, and it’s a fair question as you don’t want to be the odd one out. Simply put, we are NOT a fitness/challenge/lets run up a mountain type of group. You just need to be able to walk at a normal pace for 4-8 hours depending on the hike. We include plenty of breaks. We are in the mountains to enjoy them, not flash past them. Kit Lists We advise everyone to closely read the full kit list we suggest on our dedicated page: https://www.bee-adventures.co.uk/kit-list However if it’s your first time with us, please don’t feel the need to rush out and buy loads of gear. The crucial thing is that you have clothing that will be suitable for the weather and the right footwear (walking boots). The basic must-haves: waterproof trousers and jacket, walking boots and a day rucksack.

What if the weather is bad? We keep a close eye on the weather on a daily basis using specific mountain forecasts. If the weather is set to be dangerous, we will let you know by 4pm the day before the event, but 24 hours beforehand if possible. As I am sure you can appreciate, wet weather is something we just have to get on with here in the North, so if it is just rain, we are unlikely to cancel. If on the day the weather is worse than expected or deteriorating, the guide will make a decision which will either mean a change to the route, or possibly even cancelling the event. In the event of the latter a full refund will be provided. Do you offer private guided hikes without including transport? Yes, we can meet you at the bottom of the mountain if you like to drive yourself, this would come under a bespoke package so email us the date, and details and we will provide you with a quote.  Can I bring my Dog? What if I don't like dogs? We love dogs on the walks. Let us know which walk so we can approve and see if we can fit them on the minibus. All we ask is that you only bring your dog if you think they are up to the severity of the walk and can be trusted around livestock. Also, If you don't like dogs, please let us know so we can ensure the event is dog free.

Finally!! BEE Adventures is a small team that prides itself on being friendly and fair. We want to make everyone feel right at home with us. We love to see fresh faces change to mountain confident hikers. If your answer hasn’t been answered above please feel free to call on (0161 706 1104) or email: explore@bee-adventures.co.uk We aim to reply as soon as possible, this may sometimes mean 24 hours if we’re out hiking.
