Via Ferrata Xtreme at Honister was introduced in 2012 to provide an adrenaline-filled 3 hour activity in the heart of the Lake District without having to travel abroad.

Transportation and Via Ferrata Xtream included in the price. No climbing experience is needed to take part in the Via ferrata Xtreme although a good level of fitness is required for this activity as there is mountain edge exposure, vertical ladder climbs, overhang descent, a Burma bridge and a sky ladder to finish.

Once completed there is a short scramble to reach one of the finest views the Lake District has to offer. Buttermere, Crummock and Loweswater, perfectly framed by Alfred Wainwright`s favourite Fell, Haystacks roll’s out before your very eyes.

​

  • Minimum age 10 years Minimum height 1m 30cm

  • Maximum weight 18st/114kg, waist measurement max 43 inch, thighs max 27 inches

  • ALL Under 16’s must be accompanied by a participating adult (18+)

  • Professionally Guided ascent, secured to the Mountain by cable. See the best view in The Lake District!

  • Please come prepared for all weather conditions with waterproofs, gloves and strong footwear. All essential equipment will be provided by Honister on arrival.

  • Duration: approximately 3 hours

  • Very environmentally friendly. See totally unique Flora and Fauna safely on this “Site of Special Scientific Interest” (SSSI).

After the activity is completed you will be transported to Keswick, where you will have free time to tour the town full of outdoor shops, pubs and cafes.

On the day

9.00am - Pick-up 1 - One of our beautiful minibuses (Pictured below) will be parked waiting outside the National Express coach station on Chorlton Street, Manchester. Roughly 5 min walk from Piccadilly.

10.00am - Pick-up 2 - Lancaster Park and Ride, we will pull up at the bus stop opposite the back car park. (Free Parking all day)

​

10:45am - Service stop for refreshments for 20 minutes.

​

12:15am - We will arrive at Honister car park, a little introduction from our mountain leaders about the day, and all safety equipment is then provided. (Toilet facilities are available).

​

3:00pm - Via Ferrata Finished, drive to the local town of Keswick.

​

4:30pm - Depart from Keswick.

​

6:00pm - Service stop for refreshments for 20 minutes.

​

6.15pm - Drop off 1 - Lancaster Park and Ride.

​

19:30pm - Drop off 2 - Arrive back at Chorlton Street, Manchester for departure. With some great memories!
